Hello everyone, this is Li Tiefei from DK Lure Channel. On the left, paired with the pink rod, is the LOONGZE round reel—often touted as the pinnacle of domestic DC technology. On the right, paired with the black rod, is the Shimano Conquest BFS, backed by a century of heritage and considered the ultimate dream reel for many stream anglers.
A lot of fellow anglers ask me: since there isn’t a huge price difference between these two reels, which one should I choose? Some even criticize me, saying, “Why not just spend an extra 300–500Yuan(60 dollars) and get the Conquest BFS? Otherwise, you’re a sucker.” So today, I’m here to explain the differences between these two reels. If we compare them to cars, LOONGZE is like a Tesla: it has numerous intelligent features and multifunctional options—even automatically applying the brakes when your lure hits the water.
Meanwhile, Conquest BFS is more like a Mercedes: it boasts numerous patents and a century of proven craftsmanship, with every mechanical component and gear engineered to perfection. The Conquest BFS weighs 195 grams. The 2023 model features a third-generation MGL spool that lightens up after casting, allowing for low-trajectory, pinpoint accuracy. It can effortlessly place light lures in tight or obstacle-laden spots. Because it’s slightly heavier, stream anglers who like a “bullet cast” often favor the Conquest BFS. Its center of gravity sits toward the rear, making it better for powering smaller lures.
Moving on to the LOONGZE B51, it weighs in at 141 grams. The Bluetooth version offers different modes: Master Mode, General-Purpose Mode, Finesse Mode, Wind-Resistance Mode, Practice Mode, plus adjustable braking for both the initial and final phase of your cast. It also has an automatic water-entry brake and “distance-based braking”: once the lure reaches your preset range, it automatically engages the brake as it touches the water. There are three different “fancy sound” modes that let you add flair without swapping any bearings.
After some time using both reels, I personally think the DC system on the LOONGZE is slightly behind the Conquest BFS in terms of retrieval smoothness and line-casting flow. That said, in overall smoothness and feel, it more than justifies its price point. When you’re fishing finesse (micro lures), you’ll typically be controlling the rod single-handed, and the Conquest BFS is somewhat larger. In contrast, the LOONGZE is compact and refined, giving you a more comfortable grip and steadier casting.
In summary, if you’re after the pinnacle of silky-smooth line-casting flow and ultra-refined cranking, go with the Conquest BFS. But if you enjoy versatility and fun features—imagine a Tesla with autopilot and a built-in fridge & Color TV—then the LOONGZE DC reel is your choice. Whichever of these two reels you pick, I’m confident you won’t be disappointed. Video of above script
